The Roots and Birth of DNA Light-Up

The Light-Up experience is a methodology that came clear to me after nearly 20 years working in the professional field of leadership and personal development. My clients have included leaders and their teams from companies such as Bauer Media, QBE Insurance, BNP Paribas, Global Radio, Disney and other well-known brands. In 2015 my work was recognized by the APCTC (Association of Professional Coaches, Trainers and Consultants) who handed me their prestigious Executive Coach of the Year Award. Wow – that sure was a surprise, and an amazing evening to go down in the memory banks I can tell you!

Waking Up

The roots of my passion for this work comes from personal experiences of overcoming repeated adversity and consistently finding ways to rise up to the challenge. Life was first disrupted with the sudden death of my father when I was four. I was then orphaned when I was 16 and sent to abusive guardians, a situation which then found me fighting the legal system to protect my little sister…. And that was just the start of it!

Since the publication of my autobiography “I’m Still Standing” (see left) in December 2012 (published under the pen name of Mel Carnegie – that’s another whole story in itself!) I discovered how to ‘light-up’ for myself, and as a result my life has changed beyond recognition. I often say that I must have been a particularly slow life-student, as it took a number of potentially life-shattering experiences before I finally woke up to the deeper meaning of the work I’d been studying and teaching for so many years.

Today, through our growing team of certified Activators, DNA Light-Up is now delivering life-changing work to individuals, groups, businesses, families and children. The work is spreading. And it’s just the beginning. Our mission to reignite our world, one person at a time is gathering momentum. I can only dream of where this astonishing journey will lead as the word and the light continues to spread.

The Stuff of Dreams

For me, this is the stuff of dreams considering that in 2009 I was on my knees – financially, emotionally, spiritually and physically. I pulled myself (and my son) out of the ashes by falling back on the skills that had been my passion for so many years. I had previously used these skills to heal my own past and also to motivate countless others in their work and home life. It was only through doing this work whilst in the middle of the most intensive trauma I had ever experienced that the real shift happened and I finally understood for real what all my work had been about. Through my own struggles, the DNA Light-Up experience was born. It both saved and changed my life. I describe it as a gift, a blessing, a divine intervention, because it seemed to come through me – firstly for me to use for myself, and then to share with other people.

What Lies Within

DNA Light-Up is based on my absolute knowing, and indisputable personal proof, that we already have the answers within us – this doesn’t apply to just some of us. It applies to all of us. Not just sometimes, but all of the time. Through continued practice and experiment, it has now evolved in to a step-by-step structured process through which we can identify and link with the core of who we really are – call it what you like… spark, soul, core, gut-feeling, inner-knowing, spirit…. It doesn’t matter. There are so many ways used to describe what we instinctively know to be the essence of our being. Whilst there are countless books, films, songs and pictures about what it means to be ‘in-lightened’, DNA Light-Up shows us how to experience it, re-connecting with ourselves on a profound and life-enhancing level. As a result of fully bonding with our own power, we can consciously shape our experiences and create the life we’ve always dreamed of living.

Reigniting Our World

In my own past, I found myself fighting many battles for my life and for my freedom. I have come to realise that for many years, whilst I won my crusades, I had been using the wrong weapons and had been fighting against the wrong enemy. I’ve learned that I had no need to struggle. That in actual fact, I had held the answers all along – and that it was actually easier than I had been taught. I learned all this the hard way – you don’t have to. It has become my mission to share the essence of all that I’ve learned, so that you don’t have to struggle like me. Our purpose within DNA Light-Up, quite simply is to be the light. Our mission is to reignite our world, one person at a time.
